Born in Welland, a Southern Ontario industrial town of the 1960's, Wally Edwards came with his family to the rural village of Haliburton in Ontario's mid-north at the age of 13. It was here, through his teen years that he discovered an affinity with nature and the wooded countryside, but it wasn't until thirteen years later that events would unfold that would change his life. He was working as a marine mechanic in Halifax in 1986 when a friend introduced him to the world of photography. Suddenly there was an accessible and immediate way of capturing his unnamed feelings for the natural world. Encouraged by the possibilities, he bought his first camera, an old Minolta SRT 201, "the best camera the pawn shop had." With his first roll of black and white film, he headed off to the local park to shoot the trees.

In 1996, a lifelong dream to live in Muskoka was realized when he moved to Baysville and took work in a local camera store, all the while honing his craft. Canoeing and camping whenever he could led to the creation of a body of work that fulfills his desire to capture the glorious wilderness he loves.

Presently working out of Bracebridge with his partner, artist, Lorraine Eidlitz, Wally Edwards is not only a published and award-winning photographer, but also designs websites and graphics under the name WallSpace Design.
